Easily the very best food we had in Puerto Rico – the most authentic, best flavor and best value. It is set up like a cantina, all the dishes are on a covered hot plate, you join the line (which always moves quickly) and the staff plate it up for you. The range of food is amazing, from marinaded grilled meats to meatloaf and chicken wrapped in bacon. These are all served with local accompaniments such as mufungo, yellow rice and beans plus a whole host of other choices.
Don’ t be worried if the line appears long, it moves very quickly and is a testament to the quality and value that it seems all the locals eat here for lunch. The staff are wonderful and work through both broken Spanish and our poor English to make sure you understand the dishes. Norah in particular took time out to make sure we all got what we wanted, that we enjoyed our food, and she even gave us a tray of free cupcakes when we left!
This was real home cooking with wonderful Puerto Rican dishes. If you drive by this Restaurant and don’t stop, you have missed a real slice of Puerto Rican hospitality and food. This place is just off the main Route 2 at exit 64 so if you are passing by make the stop.
